Fortune Filmworks is an award-winning cinematography and photography company based in Calgary, Alberta and specializing in corporate, industrial and documentary style productions.
At the heart of Fortune Filmworks is Alan Fortune, who started his career as a professional photographer over 22 years ago. After studying photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Alan rounded off his training by working with world-reknowned photographers in New York City such as John Madere, Michael O’Neill, and Co Rentmeester for high-profile clients like Alcoa Aluminum, BMW and GQ magazine. From there, Alan moved to Canada and formed Alan Fortune Photography, spending over two decades creating exciting images for major clients such as The Jim Pattison Group, Forzani Group, CN Rail, and Tourism Canada.
Not one to sit still and always seeking a fresh perspective to communicate story and message, Alan’s journey led him to cinematography and Fortune Filmworks was born.
With the added dimensions of movement and sound offered by this new medium, Alan is now able to give flow and rhythm to a story in a way previously unimaginable in still photography. Bridging the best of both worlds, Alan brings to cinematography an exceptional understanding of lighting, framing, and directing along with a vast experience working with a variety of clients in a wide range of settings.
When not busy exceeding the expectations of his clients, Alan can be found reaching for new heights in the mountains of western Canada or exploring the wilds of Canada’s coastline and rivers by kayak and canoe, of course with camera in hand.
